Physician Champion: Lung Cancer Screening and Incidental Pulmonary Nodule Training Program

Overview

The AABIP Educational Committee and APP & Allied Health Chapter invites applications for a qualified and motivated Physician Champion to co-lead the development and implementation of a Lung Cancer Screening and Incidental Pulmonary Nodule Training Program in collaboration with the APP Champion co-lead (Janet Cady, NP). 

The mission of the program is to standardize the education on lung nodules and lung cancer screening with evidence-based objectives applicable to current clinical practice in Interventional Pulmonology with realistic clinical cases to improve clinical decision-making skills, promote shared decision making, support program development and quality assurance.

The specific focus of the program is to develop an evidence-based curriculum and training program that encompasses the scope of practice for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Allied Health Professionals to be an integral part of an IP Nodule and/or LCS program.


Role Description

The selected Physician Champion will collaborate with the APP Champion as co-leads to:
  • Design the educational workflows for lung cancer screening and incidental pulmonary nodule training.
  • Facilitate the development of curriculum and training modules, podcast, webinars, etc.
  • Develop Pre-/post-tests for assessment of educational training.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:
  • Have a demonstrated interest or experience in lung cancer screening and pulmonary nodule management.
  • Understand the role and scope of practice of an APP and Allied Health professional within an LCS/IPN program.
  • Show commitment to APP and allied health education, team-based care, and interprofessional collaboration.
  • Possess excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • AABIP Member in good standing.
