AABIP RT Coalition Leadership Positions

The American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology Education Committee is requesting applications for volunteer leadership roles within the RT Coalition.

The RT Coalition is a collaborative initiative within the AABIP APP & Allied Health Chapter operating under the oversight of the AABIP Education Committee. The coalition is intended to support professional engagement, communication, and educational initiatives related to Respiratory Therapists working in Interventional Pulmonology.

Selected applicants will serve two-year volunteer terms and will work collaboratively with RT Coalition leaders and participants, APP & Allied Health Chapter, and the Education Committee to support coalition initiatives and goals.


Activity: AABIP RT Coalition Leadership Positions

Term: Two (2) Years


General Responsibilities

Individuals selected for RT Coalition leadership roles are expected to:
  • Actively participate in regular coalition meetings and collaborative initiatives
  • Support communication and collaboration among RT professionals involved in Interventional Pulmonology
  • Work collaboratively with fellow coalition leaders, APP & AH Chapter and the AABIP Education Committee
  • Assist in identifying educational, professional development, and engagement opportunities for RTs in IP
  • Provide updates related to ongoing coalition initiatives during meetings as appropriate

All coalition activities and external collaborations are subject to oversight and approval by the AABIP Education Committee.


Leadership Roles

Academic Ambassador
The selected applicant will serve as the workgroup's representative to lead, organize, and advocate for the establishment of Academic goals for RTs in IP.
  • Collaborate with others to organize and promote Academic goals with and for RTs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Curriculum Ambassador and Clinical Practice Guideline Ambassador.
  • Update the RT Coalition with academic goals at coalition meetings

Communication Ambassador
The selected applicant will serve as the workgroup's representative whose mission is to lead, organize, and advocate for the establishment of communication for RTs in IP.
  • Act in a way that encourages and maintains good lines of communication for and within the RT Coalition
  • Update the RT Coalition from communication standpoint at coalition meetings.

Curriculum Ambassador
The selected applicant will serve as the workgroup's representative whose mission is to lead, organize, and advocate for the establishment of curriculum for RTs in IP. 
  • Collaborate with others to organize and establish RT curriculum with and for the RT Coalition
  • Work collaboratively with the Academic Ambassador and Clinical Practice Guideline Ambassador.
  • Update the RT Coalition from curriculum standpoint at coalition meetings.

Clinical Practice Guideline Ambassador
The selected applicant will serve as the workgroup's representative whose mission is to lead, organize, and advocate for the establishment of CPGs for RTs in IP. 
  • Collaborate with others to organize and establish RT Clinical Practice Guideline (CPGs) with and for the RT Coalition
  • Work collaboratively with the Curriculum Ambassador and Curriculum Ambassador.
  • Update the RT Coalition from CPG standpoint at meetings

AABIP Liaison
In cooperation with the APP& AH RT Ambassador (currently Angela Sherman), the selected applicant will serve to establish and maintain communication for mutual understanding and cooperation between AABIP and leaders of other relevant groups to move the RT mission forward.
  • Work collaboratively with the AABIP APP/AH RT Ambassador to advocate for RTs in AABIP.
  • Update the RT Coalition from AABIP standpoint at meetings.

AARC Liaison
The selected applicant will serve to establish and maintain communication for mutual understanding and cooperation between AABIP and AARC.
  • Advocate for RTs with the AARC.
  • Update the RT Coalition from AARC standpoint at meetings

NBRC Liaison
The selected applicant will serve to establish and maintain communication for mutual understanding and cooperation between AABIP and NBRC.
  • Advocate for RTs with the NBRC.
  • Update committee from NBRC standpoint at meetings.

Criteria for Selection
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Interest in leadership among respiratory therapy peers.
  • Be an AABIP Member in good standing
  • Be able to commit to regular monthly meetings and additional collaborative meetings as needed
