AABIP/AIPPD Mid-Year Advanced Therapeutic Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy Course for IP FellowsJoin us February 9-10, 2024 at the University of Maryland for the AABIP & AIPPD first annual Mid-Year Advanced Therapeutic Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy Course for IP Fellows. This two-day, mid-year program, is focused on advanced rigid bronchoscopy (airway stenting, ablation-assisted rigid debulking) and thoracoscopy in cadaveric models. The main purpose is to coach the IP fellows on techniques/tools that might not be available in their training institutions and expose them to different styles of performing these procedures from a diverse and world class faculty.
The course will consist of an online didactic component as pre-work followed by problem-based learning and skills-based training utilizing hands-on cadaveric and simulation training. Such introductory training to procedures is a widely accepted method of improving patient safety in procedurally oriented training programs. Additionally, since this course is aimed at bringing together the IP fellows from all programs in the United States, this will provide a forum for networking and academic collaboration that will further advance the field of Interventional Pulmonology.
