The American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) is calling for scientific abstract submission for its annual meeting to be held August 24 to 26, 2023 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk in Chicago, Illinois. The premier conference for interventional pulmonologists, advanced bronchoscopists, pleural experts and other interested health care professionals aims to gather leading clinicians, scientists, and educators to exchange ideas and discuss research on all aspects of Interventional Pulmonology and Advanced Bronchoscopy. It also provides an ideal platform for all participants to present and discuss the latest technologies, research trends, as well as practice innovations to advance the field and better patient care. Abstract must be submitted online no later than April 1, 2023.  Authors must be registered to attend this conference.

Instructions for authors:

There are 2 submission types for research abstracts: original research and case reports. Original research abstracts should include the following sections: Background, methods, results, and conclusions. They should not exceed 400 words (excluding title and affiliations). Case reports should include introduction, case description and conclusion. They should not exceed 300 words. Please indicate the topic category that best fit your abstract: Pleural Disease, Therapeutic Bronchoscopy, Diagnostic Bronchoscopy, Healthcare Transformation, Thoracic Surgery, or Miscellaneous

  • Accepted abstracts will submit a virtual poster in pdf format for the AABIP Annual Conference.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published in an online supplement of the Journal of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.  Abstracts exceeding the word limit or formatted differently than as detailed above will be rejected. No more than 2 images and 1 table should be submitted.


  • Abstract submissions will be reviewed by the Abstracts Review Committee for acceptance.
  • Abstract acceptance notifications will be sent to authors by email within 30 days after the submission deadline.
  • The top three abstracts will be accepted for podium presentation and presenters will receive a research award from the AABIP.

Format for Original Research Abstract

Abstract format should include the following (400 words max. Authors information not counted):
  1. Background
  2. Methods
  3. Results
  4. Conclusion
  5. No more than 2 images and 1 table should be submitted.

Format for Case Reports

(300 words max Authors information not counted)
  1. Introduction
  2. Case summary
  3. Conclusion
  4. No more than 2 images and 1 table should be submitted.

Abstract Submission

Please read instructions for submission carefully. Failure to follow instructions may result in administrative withdrawal of abstract. Please remember to add a working email address in case report. Fill out required sections (listed above) in the form below. Please be sure to upload your abstract as a Word Document. When finished, a confirmation should appear saying your entry was successfully submitted. Please email [email protected] for any questions or assistance. Please allow up to 48 hours for a response.

Selected Abstracts

Selected abstracts will be displayed during the AABIP 2023 Annual Conference to be held August 24 to 26, 2023 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk in Chicago, Illinois. Selected abstracts will also be published as an online supplement in the Journal of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (JOBIP).   Abstract presenter(s) must be registered to attend the AABIP 2023 Annual Conference.  More information to follow.
